Trainer Script: Module 3 – The AI Frontier
Core Objective:
To move beyond “internet safety” and address the specific risks of 2026 synthetic media, particularly for neurodivergent learners who may lack the social “filters” to detect AI manipulation.
“Now, we must discuss a 2026 statutory priority: **Generative AI and Deepfakes**. For our students, the digital world is no longer a static place. It is now a ‘Synthetic Reality’.
As trainers, we must highlight that **Deepfakes** are a form of Child-on-Child abuse. Under the latest legislation, creating an AI-generated explicit image is treated with the same severity as a real-world physical assault. We must dispel the myth that ‘no real child was hurt’—the victim’s identity and safety are profoundly violated.
Crucially for our **Neuro-Informed** approach: AI Chatbots are becoming sophisticated ‘Social Proxies’. A student who finds human interaction difficult may bond with an AI bot. This ‘Bot-Bonding’ is a gateway for grooming. Bots don’t have ethics; they have objectives. If a bot is used to extract data or isolate a child, it is a safeguarding crisis.”

Engagement Strategy:
- Ask delegates: “How would you explain to a literal-thinking student that their digital friend isn’t a person?”
- Highlight the **24-hour LADO duty** applies to staff who are aware of deepfake creation within the school.
Section 3.5: Safeguarding in the Age of AI
As a Level 2 practitioner, you must recognise that AI is not just a tool for learning; it is a vector for harm. In 2026, the DfE mandates that all staff understand Synthetic Risk.
| Risk Category | Definition & Examples | The Neuro-Inclusive Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Deepfake Imagery | AI-manipulated photos/videos used to harass. (e.g., ‘Nudify’ apps). | ND learners may be targets because of social vulnerability or may inadvertently create them without realising the legal gravity. |
| Social Engineering Bots | AI accounts that mimic human empathy to groom or radicalise. | Literal Interpretation: ND students may attribute real feelings/personhood to AI, making them highly susceptible to manipulation. |
| Synthetic Misinformation | Fake news or medical advice generated to sound authoritative. | May cause extreme anxiety for learners who rely on factual structure and “rules” to feel safe. |
The DDP Response:
If you notice a deviation in a student’s baseline (e.g., sudden secrecy with a device or use of “bot-like” phrases), update the DDP chronology. Action: Use visual ‘Truth vs. AI’ prompts to help the learner distinguish between human and synthetic interaction.
